It seems that something may be off-kilter with our species right now. We've been on Earth for quite a bit now, not considering our pre-Homosapien ancestors. Empires have risen only to fall more than a few times in our history. On my most optimistic days, I like to think that we are almost ready to reach a place of enlightenment. A place where we give up on the atrocities of war, violence, racism, sexism, and other horrible things we do to each other and the Earth. Don't you find it funny that we are supposedly the most advanced creatures on this planet, but most of us struggle to find our purpose in life? Bees pollinate flowers, and mycelia help break down the forest for litter to turn into compost; trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. How is it that bees, who are often thought of as “lesser beings,” automatically know, and fulfill their purpose, while that guy stands on the side of the road in front of the used car dealership every weekday flailing his arms? Could that be his true purpose in this lifetime?
I think I have found the meaning of life or at least the purpose of mine. We are meant to be caretakers. We have thumbs for a reason. We can make a wide variety of tools, both physical and digital. Every tool has multiple purposes. Some can be used for good, and others for evil. Take the internet, for example. Here is a tool that allows us to access the breadth and length of the human experience. We can experience things from the other side of the world and learn about anything and everything. Yet, what do most people do? Shop, get into fights and become envious of people on social media who appear to have better lives than them. This is the trap. You're often only seeing the best moments of that person's life. Their shit days are just as bad as yours.
I’m sure you know this horrible truth already, but dare I remind you? Corporate entities profit from the division. They seek to divide us by race, class, sex, and net worth. They want us to fight with each other and argue on social media because it distracts us from waking up to reality. The reality is that most of us are frankly stressed out, overworked, and probably questioning whether or not our job and many other life circumstances are honestly our true purpose in this lifetime. Long story short, it's time to realize we are one human family. No matter what we look like, where we're from, and who we choose to love. It doesn't matter because we are all Homo sapiens. We all face the same fate if we don't unite as one world community, repair the damage we've caused each other, and then focus on healing the Earth.
I love it when I watch my students realize how much they've been missing when they go to the woods and open their eyes. I love watching the glow on someone's face as they blow their first tinder bundle into flames. It amazes me to watch them establish relations with beings they've walked by in their daily lives and barely noticed. In my 22 years of teaching nature skills, I have seen beyond a shadow of a doubt that simply spending time in nature heals. And since modern society causes many of our senses to atrophy, when you combine time in nature with simple body mechanics changes like eye gazing techniques or walking techniques, life can take on a whole new meaning! I have seen nature transform people countless times, so I break myself to bring about FutureNature.
Now that we have that out of the way, here is my schedule for the first half of 2023! There will be a few more classes, and collaborations added, and I will be sure and let you know about them!
Im also excited to announce the addition of “Package Deals.” By purchasing a “2 pack” or “4 pack,” You will save some money, and I can move closer to making quality Nature Education affordable to all who want it.
In closing, I want to thank some friends and students who have gone out of their way to help me try and grow FutureNature. I am an educator, writer, and photographer, not a business person. I am eternally grateful for this select group of folks who have been helping me learn. Thank you!
Last year was, without question, the worst of my life. 2023 PLEASE ease up on me so I can get my heart fire burning bright again!
Much love, Thanks, and Praises,
T3

August update!

Hi everybody! It's been a little while since I've written to all of you, so I decided to take a little while and “put to paper” some thoughts I've been having as of late, especially after the transitions, trials, and tribulations that I've gone through. It's amazing how one-minute things can be and feel perfect, and then next thing you know, you feel like you're in a snow globe being shaken by a sugar-filled child in a gift store.
When you're in the middle of the storm, and it seems like all hope has abandoned you, that is when you are most alive.
Many people think our species is amazing because of what we can create and build. But the true magic of our species lies in the fact that we have emotions. We must learn to fully feel each and every one of them, till they are like old friends.
Instead of wallowing in my own crapulence, I made the choice to walk through the fire, the fear, the sadness, and the rage. To sum it up, I quote the author Frank Hebert, from the pages of the immortal book Dune: “I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it is gone past, I will turn to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
I’m finally settled in my new space and blessed to have a back door that looks into many acres of old-growth forest. I can’t wait to explore all its facets and caretake it with help from the guidance of the spirit that moves in and through all things.
Anyway, like an ember slowly being blown into a tinder bundle, I have got my spark back, and it burns hotter every day. I will continue to do good works, leading as many as possible to a connection with nature through a class or my photography. I want everyone to experience the rapture of entering the wilderness and seeing the world as I see it.
We need to break the chains of the technology we've created or use it correctly. People have so little care for the Earth. I'm going to fix that. And I need your help. My ultimate goal is to teach for free.
Why? Because the skills that I share in my classes are part of our shared human heritage. They're embedded in your DNA. My goal is to by this time next year to run the first of the free classes, with the help of a few well-known top-notch instructors, and run a free five-day class for around 30 people. There will be an application process to make sure the students are those that want nature education but can't afford to pay for a class.
To realize my Vision, I need your help. I aim to put 10% of every sale I make on my photo prints or class tuitions aside into a fund. When I think the fund has reached an adequate amount where I can afford to rent a facility, pay the instructor staff, and provide food, the first free class will be born.
If you want to help me with this process, there is my Patreon page, which has many really awesome member gifts. There's also my photography. Any photo that you see me post on social media, or is on my website in the gallery sections is available and can be printed on anything from paper, canvas, glass, and even wood and acrylic. I’m also going to be releasing a new line of T-shirts with my photos on them in the very near future.
As far as the rest of my summer goes, I'm excited to run the classes with Adam Larue and The Sharpening Stone in southern Oregon, plus my class with Andrea Kreiner. I just put 6 online classes on the schedule. They can be taken individually ($100 for 2-2 1/2 hour webinar), or you can buy the package of 6 for $450.
Head over to my schedule page where you will find “Intro to Wilderness Survival,” “Awareness: the Most Important Skill in Life,” “Animal Tracks and Sign 101,” “Wild Edible Plants and Ethical Foraging,” “Urban Survival,” and “The Way of the Caretaker.”
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me through my website! I hope to see some of you down the trail in a wild place!
Thank you all for your love and support. And thank you for taking the time to read my words.
Forever giving thanks,
T3

How to Start a Fire in Inclement Weather!
We have been using fire for close to two million years. Fire is such a multi-faceted tool. It cooks our food, purifies our water, gives us heat and light, and can be a good friend on a cold lonely night.

Hello all! First off, I want to thank you all for the hundreds of messages I received expressing condolences for my mother's passing. It meant the world to me and is making it easier to navigate what's to come. If you want to read a bit more about her life, here's the blog post I wrote about her.
I keep thinking of Yoda's quote, "Death is a natural part of life, rejoice for those around you who transform into the force." Even though I take solace in those words, my heart still aches. Time heals all wounds, and I must continue on, knowing that she was proud of me and the work that I do. As much as it hurts, life has to go on...
This leads me to some updates on what's to come for me in the future.
Firstly my Intensive and single-day class schedule for Trackers Earth is up! Im happy to say that once that Archery is back! Both in single day and intensive formats.
The Survival/ Ancestral living skills class will go back to being an overnight program!I am very excited about it! The Animal Tracking and Archery Intensive will be one Sunday a month.
I have also decided to make things "Official" and start a business! I've been asked to teach more and more private classes lately, and then there is my Nature photography. Say hello to the founder of FutureNature LLC and T3Photography!
FutureNature will focus on teaching nature connection and ancestral living skills and the principles guiding them. If you are interested in booking me for a class contact me here. Or take a look at FurtureNature in the menu!
T3Photography is all about my photography, specifically as a means to show people that stunning natural beauty can be found anywhere, not just in exotic, faraway locations. We have completely revamped the store on the website, making many more printing options available. Any photo on my website or Instagram can be printed on a wide variety of mediums and sizes. The 3 main subjects I take are Fauna, Flora, and Landscapes.
In closing, I'd like to say that my Masterclass will soon be going up in price as I will be adding 3 new chapters. Those being Bone Tools, Making rope from natural fibers, Fish Spears!
Thank you again for your continued support. Without you, I would not get to do the best job in the world! Stay happy and healthy, hug your loved ones, and most importantly, get outside and spend time in the wild places.
Giving Thanks,
T3
Good News Everybody! My Masterclass is DONE and Available to Purchase!
Whew! After more than a year of countless hours of filming, and editing, plus delays due to everything from COVID to bad weather, I am SO HAPPY to announce that my Masterclass on the Principles of Wilderness Survival is complete and available for purchase! I would like to thank Shane and Jesse from Northfork Studios, and Arian Stevens for your filming expertise, Ted Davis for all your editing prowess, and of course April Vokey and Anchored Outdoors for making it all happen! Lastly, I would like to thank Trackers Earth for providing access to the awesome filming locations!
I’ve been hounded by the media and production companies for years about filming a variety of shows and turned them all down because they wanted drama, not education. This Masterclass is just the beginning. I am currently filming educational videos and writing articles to help further your education. Some things you can look forward to are video lessons on making rope from a variety of natural materials, and how to make knives, arrowheads, spear points, fish hooks, and all sorts of other useful tools from animal bones. I think I am most excited to teach you all to prepare a gourmet feast using only wood, fire, and hot rocks! I have a lot to share with you, so stay tuned! I also wanted to take a minute to thank all of you, without you and your interest in the skills I have to offer, I wouldn’t have the best job in the world. Thank you so very much, I hope you learn something from the Masterclass and that it helps you to feel more comfortable when out in the wild places. Nature is not to be feared, but revered!
