Pretty much daily I have a hearty chuckle due to the irony that is my life. I bet you think I probably spend the majority of my time going through the woods stalking a bobcat, or cuddling baby chipmunks. Maybe you think when I enter the forest birds flock to me and land on my shoulders, arms, and head saying, "hello".
I have had these experiences happen to me in nature before, but long ago. These days I spend the vast majority of my time behind two giant computer monitors. On one I am editing photos and videos for my clients and myself, and on the other is my email, website maintenance, spreadsheets, and research. Most days, I'm unsure of what day of the week it is. I don't look at the news at all except in a few crucial areas of interest. Occasionally, I turn and look out my window into 13 acres of Old growth forest, my forehead creases, and then I go back to the monitors.
Sometimes the thought of how much of my precious life force I devote to staring at screens is daunting. I do this to try and reach as many people as possible and pull them away from the screen. To quit living vicariously through screens and start living in the real world with nature. What are we being screened from? Slowly but surely, I'm getting to a place where I spend less time behind the screen and more time in the woods with my camera. A few days ago, our internet went out. Elon Musk and his internet creation, star link, has been a lifesaver for people who live rurally and need reliable high-speed Internet. Star link provides that for a fraction of the cost of other options in the area. For some reason, our household has not been lucky with them this year. We had one break last year, and now again a few days ago. Personally, it couldn't come at a worse time. I'm in the middle of my Indiegogo campaign, trying to raise funds to keep me on track. I am slowly seeing my business grow. The warmer weather will allow more outdoor programming, and I am currently working with several people online. However, I am just now beginning to fulfill the perks of my Indiegogo campaign, many of which involve online sessions. With the internet down, this has proved an almost impossible feat. To keep up with the campaign day to day, I've spent a decent amount of money on gas to drive into town to send simple emails to keep up with clients.
I have several webinars coming up, and what hurts the most is that I have to tell excited students that the webinars will have to be postponed until I don't know when. It's still unclear when the internet will be operational again and able to deliver quality webinars. For those of you that I have already scheduled meetings with about private classes or photography work, I will fulfill those commitments by running into town. Long story short, I apologize for the delay in things and will get back to all of you post haste.
One favor I ask of you is to please share my IndieGoGo campaign. You will be helping me out greatly, and any extra money raised will go to my free nature education programs. You can find links to my campaign here. Also, as many of you know, I have a Youtube channel. You will find everything from skills videos to random rants and gear reviews there. I even have a live show called T3Live! The next episode will air this Saturday, April 22nd, at 4 pm PST. I hope to see you there. Thank you for all your love and support. It's kept me going and taken me to places I never imagined I would go. I will make this planet a place where all beings have a place with the group of Caretakers I am trying to gather. As Victor Hugo once said, “No Army can withstand an idea whose time has come.” We have an idea. Now, we need people who are truly ready to speak for those with no lips. Thank you all for being so patient and understanding.
Much love, thanks, and praises,
T3
